Problem Possible Solution
Unit won't illuminate
  • Possible bad bulb, replace bulb in light source

  • Possible misaligned light source, make sure light source is directly below optical viewing field

  • Possible blown fuse on light source, check for fuse if applicable

  • Intensity control on light source turned down too low

  • Possible closed iris, open iris

  • Unit plugged into dead outlet, check outlet with another device
Unit won't focus
  • Possible dirty objectives or oculars, clean as needed

  • Possible spring loaded objective is stuck out of proper position, clean sides of objective

  • Possible loose adjustment dials, verify that mechanical stage moves when dials are turned
